Grumpy's Take

Straight talk, no hype
  • Red across the board. All four metals are down this morning, with palladium taking the worst of it. Fed Wednesday and PCE Thursday mean the week isn't done swinging.
  • Gold is sitting right on $4,000. That's the line traders are watching. Don't panic-sell into a dip, and don't chase a bounce.
  • How Grumpy prices it: start with melt, then expect a premium. Silver Eagles typically trade a few dollars over spot; fractional gold carries bigger premiums per ounce than a full ounce.
  • Junk silver math: $1 face of 90% ≈ $38.45 in metal today, down from $39.11 yesterday afternoon. Know that number before anyone quotes you.
  • Check spot before you buy or sell. Every time. Yesterday's number isn't today's.
